You are here: Plant a Tree Project

Monterosa Plant a Tree Project

In the early years of our formal education we were taught that we should all plant a tree during our life time. Of course, in spite of being aware of that teaching, most of us have not put that into practice.

Did you know that the simple act of planting a tree helps you and your children´s future?. Indeed, that is true and correct. Just imagine, if all the people around the world planted juts one tree a piece, our world would be greener, mores trees would help in the raging battle against global warming. The presence of trees in our inmediate environment is so normal that we tend to forget their immense value: We take them for granted as we do with water.

Can you see that trees do not only lessen the amount of greenhouse gases in our environment? Trees also help us in cleaning up pollution in our surroundings. All types of living things benefit from the presence of trees in their daily lives.

It would be just a grand event if all the people in this world planted just one tree a piece. We would love to live long enough to see that happen!!!!

Monterosa Project Team

Mission

The Monterosa Project aims to preserve the existing flora and fauna within the Lucumayu Valley, located in the buffer zone around the very fragile Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary. Reforestation and restoration of this highly damaged forest, developing sustainable practices that involve the participation of local communities, are as crucial as cultivating ecological awareness and respect for the earth, while generating social and environmental change leading to sustainable lifestyles. Founded in 2007, the Monterosa Project is a solution focused non-profit organization.

Vision

The Monterosa Project aspires to be an institution of distinction that works to inspire, educate and involve the families and surrounding communities in the Lucumayu Valley. Trees are essential to reverse declining soil fertility and to improve agricultural productivity and quality of life. We are a team committed to nature, we came to understand that the accelerated destruction of our environment due deforestation, is a major cause of worldwide extreme climate change and the poverty affecting the majority of our people.

CO2 Emissions Guest Compensation Program

The very act of bringing our guest to Peru produce large quantities of CO2, therefore we started this program to counterpart this serious impact and at the same time help to reforest key areas in the highly diverse ands of Peru through tree planting and environmental education, this means that for every booking with Habitats Peru Travel you will be planting trees in Peru, making a big difference to regular travelling.
