While most programs force hikers to rush-through stunning scenery, we take our time to enjoy this incredible once-in-a-life-time experience, we camp the first 03 nights enjoying great meals and sturdy tents.On the fourth afternoon we arrive to Machupiccchu, when most crowds have left to enjoy the tranquility and majestuosity of this unparallel site.After a well deserved night sleep at a comfortable hotel, we return to the site in day light for further exploration with your guide.In the afternoon we return to Cusco by train along the magnificente Urubamba canyon.This program has been specially designed to offer a much more relax trek with enough time to enjoy this magical site.
Early morning departure for a beautiful ride along the Urubamba Valley to reach the trail head at km82, where we make our official entrance to the Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary, after an easy walk along the valley floor we reach our first inca site Patallacta (8,700 ft), then we continue up the Cusichaca valley in a gentle climb to our lunch spot, after a delicious lunch fixed by our cook we continue to our campsite in the village of Huayllabamba at (10,000 ft).(L, D)
After an early breakfast we set off from camp on a long and steep climb to reach the highest point of our hike the pass of Warmiwañuska at (14,000ft) as we leave camp notice the dramatic change in vegetation, will walk through a beautiful patch of upper montane forest of myrciantes trees which is as unique as the flora and fauna that mingle with it.As the pass gets closer will be surrounded by bunches of ichu straw and little trees, a beautiful ecotone of paramo and elfin forest.From the summit we will be able to visualize our second camp at the botton of the valley reach after a 2 hours hike surrounded by beautiful endemic polylepis forest, as well as part of the thirds days hike to the second pass and the site of Runkuracay.(B, L, D)
This is the most beautiful part of our hike, after a delicious breakfast we leave camp and start hiking up to the second pass Runkurakay(13,000ft)on the way to the summit we take our time to explore the site of Runkurakay used in the inca time as a watch tower from where the views of the surrounding is amazing if the weather allows it, once at the pass we can visualize the Aobamba Valley with beautiful tropical cloud forest, we descent for 2 hours in an original portion of this trail to reach the site of Sayacmarka, strategically located in a spur of a mountain, enjoy the beauty of this trail as we walk on a original stone path, the forest around is laden with orchids and bromeliads.Lunch, middle afternoon arrival to the third and last pass Phuyupatamarca (12,000ft) where we will spend our last night at camp.(B, L, D)
This 4th day is a special one, we have breakfast and also say good bye to our staff(cook and porters), we continue our hike on the last portion of this fabulous trail towards the Inti Punku(Sun Gate)across beautiful tropical cloud forest,once in the gate we enjoy our first views of this magical city Machupicchu(8,000 ft).We arrived to this enigmatic city mid-afternoon on time to do a bit of exploration.Bus ride to Aguas Calientes and overnight at comfortable hotel.(B, L)
Morning visit of this fabulous site with your guide, visiting the most fascinating features of this milenary city, individual exploration is highly recommended.After lunch we return to Aguas Calientes to take middle afternoon train back to Cusco along the gorgeous Urubamba Canyon.On arrival to train station, transfer back to your hotel.(B, L)
