Sandoval Ox-bow Lake

During our program you will be base at a comfortable lodge, set on the shores of a beautiful ox-bow lake, the lodge grounds offer several miles of trails, the best place to encounter the secretive inhabitants of this forest as well as exploring the nearby lake where a family of the very endangered Giant Otter are found, all of this at a convenient 40 minutes fly to Puerto Maldonado from Cusco.
Flight to Puerto Maldonado, on arrival transfer to Tambopata port where you will be transfer to a motorized canoe for a 40 minutes trip down the Madre de Dios River, once on dock, we will take a nice walk in the forest for about and hour and a half, the final stretch to reach lodge will be done in a catamaran. Overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge.(L, D)
Breakfast, morning exploration of lake, with an incredible swamp forest of Aguaje Palms great for several species of parrots to the large macaws as they use this palms for roosting, we also hope to find the resident family of Giant Otters which are very endangered and found in very few locations.Rest of day exploration of forest trails for primates.Overnigt at Sandoval Lake Lodge. Morning forest walk good for primates like Brown Capuchins and Squirrel Monkeys that live in great associations up to 50 in a troop!!time to also enjoy the forest flora with its great shapes and colors.Night excursion to lake great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful orchestra of natural forest calls as we hear frogs, toads and owls.Overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge.(B, L, D)
