If you have a spare day or a late flight back home from Peru`s capital this is a great way to spend a full day adding new exciting species to your life list. This day combines great birding opportunities both for water species at the Villa Marshes Reserve (RAMSAR site since 1997) and seabirds at the very happening fishing village of Pucusana. Up to 60 species or more can be possible on this tour depending on the time of year.

An early morning start from your hotel is requiere to reach or first birding site as well as to avoid rush hour. Selected stops are made on route at agricultural fields particulary for Peruvian Thick-knee, Short-tailed Field-tyrant and several species of seedeaters. Once at the marshes good chances to spot the lovely White-cheeked Pintail, the striking Many-colored Rush-tyrant, Gray-hooded Gulls, White-tufted Grebe, Yellow-hooded Black-bird and various others. The marshes complex system of lagoons and marsh áreas made up of totora reed clumps are part of an important migratory resting grounds and corridor for several species along the vast peruvian coast. A total of 165 species have been recorded at this site depending on time of year. The bay at small fishing village of Pucusana will be the icing of the cake, here excellent possibilities for the exquisite Inca Tern, the endemics Humboldt Penguin and Surf Cinclodes others include the stunning Red-legged Cormorant, Peruvian Boobies, Guanay Cormorant, Peruvian Pelicans and many more.
